About Us

HI-BK is an all-inclusive doggy daycare provider in Downtown Brooklyn, NYC. It was founded by Geraldine and Richmond, a couple who lives in the neighborhood and have an immense love for dogs.
HI-BK Doggy Daycare is a nod from Hawaii and Brooklyn, homes to our founders. Geraldine grew up in Hawaii and Richmond spent summers with his family on the islands. When they moved to New York, they fell in love with a Shiba Inu. They named him Koa, which means “brave” in Hawaiian and also refers to the reddish-color Koa Tree, which is native to Hawaii.
As local residents, we opened HI-BK to offer a reliable, trusted, and reputable provider of doggy daycare, overnight boarding, grooming & spa, training, and puppy socialization in a clean, safe, and spacious environment.
HI-BK Doggy Daycare is focused on creating a community for dog owners in Brooklyn. We’re also looking to partner with other businesses and organizations
to spread the aloha.

Our Mission

Each and every day, our mission is to provide exceptional service, support, and care for the dogs that we take in and you, their humans. We want you to gain peace of mind knowing that your dogs are in the very best of hands when you can’t be
there for them.

Our Facilities

With brand new, state of the art facilities, we’re able to offer a modern and contemporary dog sitting service for our clients. We have over 3,700 sq. ft. of dedicated dog space with three expansive play areas for your dog to roam around in, support for training, spa & grooming, and social interactions. We’ve used research-based strategies to ensure that we offer your dog a fun, enjoyable, and productive environment within which to thrive. We also have a curated retail space featuring local brands from Hawaii and New York.

We thoughtfully designed the space to ensure the health and safety of every dog and person that walks through our doors:

  • Floors are sealed with high grade epoxy, which is designed for better sanitation and health safety for your dog
  •  UV lighting by PetAirapy, which kills up to 99.99% of allergens, bacteria and viruses, such as Kennel Cough, Canine Influenza, Parvovirus, and Distemper
  • HVAC system refreshes 100% fresh, clean air every hour
  • All cleaning supplies are approved and used by local veterinarians

What is a temperament test?

A temperament test is required for dogs older than 6 months. This is before starting daycare and boarding.

We start by gently introducing the dog to their new environment, alongside their human companion, to help them acclimate to different stimuli. Each dog receives individual attention to ensure a comfortable transition before joining the group. This detailed process is conducted for the four hour period, and we’ll need to meet with each dog’s human for about 15 minutes at the beginning to review the dog’s profile.

Times available for temperament test:
Monday-Friday at 9am

We first meet with each client to review your dog’s profile in greater detail, which takes approximately 15 minutes, before starting your pup’s temperament test. We gently introduce your dog to this new environment by allowing them to explore on their own for a bit in the testing area, followed by meeting a few new friends one on one before joining the larger group. Each dog receives individual attention to ensure a comfortable transition and this detailed process is conducted during the four hour period. At pick up, we will meet with you again to discuss what happened during the test and any next steps we recommend.

For puppies less than 6 months old, please contact us to go over our process to introduce young pups to daycare!
